Welcome to Twinkle Toes Podiatry

Twinkle Toes Podiatry provides a home visiting Podiatry and Chiropody service to Gosport, Alverstoke, Lee-on-the-Solent, Hill Head, and surrounding areas.

My name is Lesley Tinman, BSc (Hons) Podiatry, MChS, and I run Twinkle Toes Podiatry Clinic and will be your Podiatrist. A BSc is an internationally recognised scientific qualification for a Chiropodist who has completed a degree in Podiatry. I am a Member of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists and as a registered Health Professional meet the national standards, training, and professional skills of the Health Professions Council.

As a Chiropodist and Podiatrist I specialise in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of the foot and foot related pathology. Alongside routine care of the feet, which involves cutting toenails and removal of corns and callus and thorough knowledge of dermatology, I also specialise in working with high risk patients. These patients often have an underlying illness or condition that puts their legs and feet at increased risk of injury and disability. Many have poor circulation and skin vulnerable to injury which may lead to delayed healing. This is where a qualified Podiatrist's expertise can assist in the reduction of complications associated with long term chronic medical conditions such as diabetes and vascular problems; conditions which have a high impact on patients' quality of life.

Abnormalities in how we walk can also be assessed and treated and orthotics (shoe inserts) prescribed to improve foot function and reduce pain. Biomechanics is concerned with preservation, restoration and development of the function of the foot and its associated structure, such as the alignment of joints. Areas of clinical practice that focus on biomechanics are osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and sports injuries. Appropriate treatment plans are devised in order to reduce discomfort, increase stability and ultimately keep the patient as mobile as possible.

I treat people of all ages but play a particularly important role in helping older people to stay mobile and therefore independent. A particular interest of mine is falls prevention and I work with other Health Professionals in order to achieve positive outcomes.
