Welcome to Twinkle Toes Podiatry

Twinkle Toes Podiatry provides a home based podiatry and chiropody service in Gosport, Alverstoke, Lee-on-the-Solent, Hill Head, and surrounding areas.

There is no difference between a chiropodist and a podiatrist. Podiatrist is the term used for chiropodists in other English speaking countries and is accepted as their professional title. Chiropodists and podiatrists deal with the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of the lower limb and are qualified to treat people with arthritis, diabetes, and sports injuries. We work with people of all ages but play a particularly important role in helping older people to stay mobile and therefore independent.

Alongside routine care of the feet which involves cutting toenails and removal of corns and callus, we also specialise in working with high risk patients. These patients often have an underlying illness or condition that puts their legs and feet at increased risk of injury and disability. Many have poor circulation and skin vulnerable to injury which may lead to delayed healing. This is where a qualified Podiatrist's expertise can help reduce complications associated with long term chronic medical conditions such as diabetes and vascular problems; conditions which have a high impact on patients' quality of life.

Abnormalities in how we walk can also be assessed and treated and orthotics (shoe inserts) can be prescribed to improve foot function and reduce pain. Biomechanics is concerned with preservation, restoration and development of the function of the foot and its associated structure. Areas of clinical practice that focus on biomechanics are osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and sports injuries. Appropriate treatment plans are devised in order to reduce discomfort, increase stability and ultimately keep the patient as mobile as possible.

Twinkle Toes Mobile Podiatry Clinic is run by Lesley L. Tinman Bsc (Hons) Podiatry, MChs, a graduate from the University of Southampton and a member of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists. Registered with the Health Professions Council her qualifications also license her to perform nail surgery and to access and supply certain prescription only medicines. A research area in which Lesley is particularly interested is falls prevention.
